Pope Emeritus Benedict XVl sends gift to UK Ordinary, Monsignor Keith Newton

Mgr Newton and Pope BenedictPope Emeritus Benedict XVl has sent as a gift to the Ordinary, Mgr Keith Newton, a signed copy of his book, Jesus of Nazareth: the Infancy Narratives, with a message written above the signature: “In communion of prayers. Yours in the Lord”.

The gift was in response to a letter of fraternal greetings sent by the Ordinary to the Pope Emeritus after the Ordinariate’s Festival in September at which a unanimous decision was taken that a letter should be sent to both the Pope Emeritus and Pope Francis expressing the gratitude of Ordinariate members for the gift of the Ordinariate.

On receiving Benedict XVl’s gift, Mgr Newton said: ” I am delighted and touched to have received this gift from the Pope Emeritus. The book is the third in his wonderful three part meditation on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, and this signed copy will occupy pride of place on my bookshelves. Pope Benedict will always have a very special place in the hearts of the Ordinariate’s clergy and lay members; we will never forget the wisdom and generosity of his vision in setting up the Ordinariates”.
