Update on the Gift Store / Coffee Shop project in Downtown Scranton

Father Bergman also writes:

When I wrote to you last year about our plans to open a coffee shop and gift store in the old Guild Building downtown that would benefit our parish, we thought that we might see it opened by Easter. That turned out to be too ambitious, but we want to report that we are making progress. The final plans for the coffee shop have been approved, and we should see construction on that part of the
project start before too long. While we don’t have a date yet for opening day we anticipate that we should be up and running by this summer. Please keep this project in your prayers, too, as we expect it will be of great benefit to our parish, both in terms of the income it will provide and as a ‘softshell’ way of introducing people to the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Give God thanks for this in your devotions, as we are supremely blessed to have such generous benefactors. As we draw closer to opening day I will make appeals for contributions of time and talent, as we hope to rely at least partially on volunteer labor to minimize expenses.
