Cardiff’s statue of Our Lady of Walsingham has arrived and is magnificent

The Ordinariate newsletter informs us that:

The Ordinariate Group in south Wales commissioned a statue of Our Lady of Walsingham to adorn the altar of their chapel in St David’s Cathedral, Cardiff.

The statue has been hand-carved in lindenwood by Mr Josef Albl of Oberammergau in Bavaria and will go in the gap in the centre of the reredos.

Fr Bernard Sixtus, the Group Pastor, now reports that “the Statue of Our Lady of Walsingham has ARRIVED!!! We received the finished statue from Mr Albl! Our new statue will be blessed by our Ordinary, Mgr Keith Newton, on Sunday 18th October at 1pm during the Ordinariate Mass in the Cathedral.”

It certainly looks quite magnificent as you can see from the photograph.
