The real thing is now available. I’ve just seen a copy of the bound Missal. It is stunning. There is SO much in it that we have brought with us into the Church – so many of the Collects that we of a certain age are familiar with, the Advent Antiphons, Te Deum, Litany, even a version of the Commination Service for Ash Wednesday!!! The Mass itself is beautifully set out, and will be immediately recognisable to anyone who has ever attended a Prayer Book/Series 2/Rite B/English Missal celebration. …AND ALL NOW BROUGHT INTO LINE WITH THE MAGISTERIUM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. A huge thank-you is due to all those responsible for the work that has gone into it, and to the Catholic Truth Society for their skill in producing a truly beautiful book.
It would be nice to think that a hand-missal will be produced for the laity, or – here’s a suggestion – a Divine Worship version of that CTS hardy perennial The Simple Prayer Book.

In keeping with the Anglican tradition of the ordinariates, I think that a revised Book of Divine Worship analogous to the Book of Common Prayer, published in a single volume and of a size suitable for use by the people in the pews, is definitely in order.
