Although the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter does not as yet own a high school, there are already very close links indeed with the St. John XXIII College Preparatory in the western Houston suburb of Katy, Texas. This school was known as Pope John XXIII High School until the canonisation of John XXIII.
We have already reported thet St. Margaret of Scotland Ordinariate Church worships on the school premises and that their pastor, Father Steve Sellers, is the first school chaplain.
We have now learnt that Father Sellers is to take over as School President on August 1st, 2016. His position as school chaplain will be filled by another Ordinariate priest, Father Scott Blick, who will be supported part-time by Evan Simington, who is to be ordained transitional deacon on May 31st and priest at the end of the school year 2016/17.
A glance at the school faculty list shows an even wider involvement of the Ordinariate. Mark Baker, deacon at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham, teaches theology. Christopher Lee, who teaches Social Studies, is himself a parishioner at the Ordinariate’s Cathedral. Moreover Latin teacher David Marcus has also taught at Our Lady of Walsingham’s Children of the Holy House homeschool program.
