This year the national Festival of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham is to take the form of a pilgrimage to the shrine of Blessed John Henry Newman, the Ordinariate’s patron, in Birmingham on October 7th/8th, as part of the 2016 Called to be Catholic project..
The pilgrimage begins on the Friday evening at 9pm with Evensong and Benediction in St Chad’s Cathedral with music provided by the Cathedral Choir. This is followed by a talk on John Henry Cardinal Newman by Fr. Ian Ker, the most famous Newman biographer.
On Saturday the pilgrimage events take place at the Birmingham Oratory, the home of Newman’s shrine.
Rooms have been booked at the Strathallen Hotel on Hagley Road, a 5 minute walk from the Oratory at a cost of £124 per (twin) room, bed and breakfast. The hotel can arrange taxis to the Cathedral for a fare of £8. To book please contact Ronald Crane on 0121 241 8730 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
