Father Patrick Allen, the pastor of Corpus Christi Catholic Community, the Ordinariate group in Charleston, South Carolina, has written the following:
Of your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of Father James Parker, who died this week. Fr. Parker was a priest of the Diocese of Charleston, and one of the first married former Episcopal priests to be ordained in the Catholic Church under the “Pastoral Provision”, and so very much a pioneer of the reception into the Church of the Anglican patrimony, especially through his work on the Book of Divine Worship, which provided a form for the “Anglican Use” until the establishment of the Ordinariates and the promulgation of our Divine Worship rites.
Fr. Parker attended the Mass of Reception and Confirmation of the original members of our community, Fr. Allen’s ordination, and some our first liturgies, until his health no longer permitted him to do so.
O God, who didst cause thy servant James, for whom we pray, to enjoy the office of Priest after the order of thine Apostles: grant unto him, we beseech thee, finally to rejoice in the company of those thy Saints in heaven whose ministry he did sometime share on earth; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. Amen.
