At the most recent board meeting of the Anglicanorum Coetibus Society (ACS), which took place by Skype conference on June 24th (June 25th in Australia), it was confirmed that the next ACS Conference will be held on Thursday September 21st to Saturday September 23rd, 2017 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston, Texas. The Ordinary of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St. Peter, Bishop Steven Lopes, has given his approval as well as the pastor of the Cathedral parish.
The theme of the conference will be “The Anglican Patrimony to the Catholic Church” and several well-known speakers are to be expected. It is also planned to arrange some kind of video link so that people in the United Kingdom and hopefully also in Australia can follow the conference.
This conference represents the continuation of the series of annual conferences held between 2004 and 2o12 by the Anglican Use Society, as the Society was then called.
The Annual Meeting of the ACS will take place this year on September 4th at 11:30 a.m., Eastern North American time, at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where the Society’s current interim vice-chairman, Father Eric Bergman, is pastor. Again attendance is possible via Skype, and anyone interested in participating in this way should let the ACS have their Skype user name in good time so that they can be added to the conference.
Five new directors will be elected at the Annual Meeting to supplement the four current directors whose term expires in 2018. The ACS is currently looking for two new board members (preferably a laywoman and a priest) from the UK and one layperson from Australia to make the board more international and to replace the British director who recently had to resign for health reasons. Any person interested should contact the current interim chairman at firstname.lastname@example.org .
